Richard Mille RM55 Bubba Watson

The RM 055 Bubba Watson is inspired by the RM 038 Bubba Watson tourbillon watch presented in 2011. Its mechanical movement, crafted in grade 5 titanium displays extreme skeletonisation. The RM 055 is a highly technical creation that is innovative, sporty and hand-finished in the finest watchmaking tradition.

This mechanical movement in grade 5 titanium displays extreme skeletonisation, with a PVD- and Titalyt® treated baseplate and bridges. This combination confers great rigidity on the whole assembly, as well as the precise surface flatness essential for perfect functioning of the gear train.

The skeletonised baseplate and bridges were subjected to intensive and complete validation tests to optimise their resistance capacities. The Calibre RMUL2 is thus capable of withstanding accelerations of over 5000 g’s.

The free-sprung balance offers better reliability in the event of shocks, movement assembly or disassembly, and also guarantees better chronometric results over time. The regulator index is eliminated, and a more accurate and repeatable calibration is possible thanks to 4 small, adjustable weights located directly on the balance.

The double-barrel system helps to improve the torque stability over a longer period. This is achieved by distributing the stored energy across two winding barrels instead of one, which increases the number of rotations and reduces pressure on the teeth, bearings and pivots, resulting in better long-term performance.
